I’m glad Meze learned what transient response is and why it’s so crucial, I’m glad we got a much wider frequency response that pushed small nuances to the surface, ultimately winning me over with their excellent imaging and natural soundstage.
I think it has a very good value and it’s in my opinion one of the best headphones you can get at this time. If you ever look out for a life-like, vibrant, musical, resolving and dynamic headphone under $1000, I strongly recommend it.
The new Meze 109 Pro open-back headphones are a triumph, in every respect. The sound quality is pitch-perfect. The openness of the soundstage and the sheer level of detail is astonishing. Listening to music with these unique headphones will have you falling in love with your favorite albums all over again.
Though I expect the best from Meze, I’m nonetheless blown away with what they accomplished with the 109 PRO. Meze continues to set their own quality standards by instead focusing on overall balance and tasteful brightness, which I find harder to pull off and all-the-more impressive.
All the various reviews made me interested and indiciated this was something for me. So much i skipped to try them irl beforehand. And oh boy - it is!
Very well built. Excellent looks with awesome details and handfeel. Very comfortable to wear for hours on end. Love the slight v shape sound, and the tonality - it's entertaining, engaging, punchy, rich, detailed, nice highs - but not overdone. With just the right balance of open stage and intimacy - as a whole just perfecly right for my ears. Looking at the sum of qualities: absolutely top notch price. Very glad to add it to my (currently 13 pieces) headphone collection. Having it since some time now, my summary would be: If you want a really good dynamic driver headphone where the whole package (sound, performance, build quality, comfort) matches price - this is it, highly recommended.
IMO it sits perfectly between, lets state well known examples, HD600 and HD800S. In fact from my POV, there is no good dynamic driver competitor in this exact price/performance class, which makes it the best in its own class. And ultimately a must-have in my collection.
As i personally generally prefer balanced, high quality/custom copper cables (over standard cables and likewise silver induced cables), but didn't have that version yet (balanced->dual 3,5mm Mono) - Meze has exactly that (Copper PCUHD premium cable). So i didn't go for my usual custom shop.
Sounds just as i like it, very well braided, great connectors, nice branding/aesthetics/splitter, good practicality, and overall very well made. Just like the 109Pro worth every cent and highly recommended.
And another thing: excellent website, superb shopping, delivery, exzellent safe outside and beautiful inside packacking, perfect (and sure hand-checked) condition of everything etc.
From start to enjoying your headphone you can outright feel Meze is passionate and dedicated to what they do. You only can love that attitude.
This is my first, but for sure not my last Meze.... ;-)
I'll just say that immediately after opening i plugged them to my piano and was convinced the cable was broken, since it appeared as the sound was still coming from the piano speakers, incredibly spacious - the stage was so wide and deep, absolute marvel.

I got an email asking me to write a review, so brief thoughts:
The craftsmanship on this headphone is really impressive, it looks beautiful and seems very robust. Comfort is also near flawless you just put em on your head and it adjusts. Most important part, sound: These have close to neutral tuning to my ears but not quite. seems slightly elevated in bass and treble (not much). I hear them as very musical and lively. Works well for every genre of music. Everything sounds fantastic on these. You can hear the smallest detail on every song, but not that it's too much. Very smooth and warm sound overall.
